Free Video Streaming

Google Video and YouTube are the driving forces behind the popularity of streaming video. Why? Because they offer free video streaming!

Prior to these services, Mr. and Mrs. Average Citizen could view, but not produce free streaming videos. The relatively high cost of streaming servers put them out of reach for most people.

Now anyone can upload their home movies or professional productions and make their creations available to the world as free streaming videos.

Free Streaming Videos

Google Video and YouTube offer basically the same deal, although there are a few differences. For one, Google Video will accept any size of free streaming videos, but YouTube restricts streaming videos to 10 minutes in length.

Google Video also allows free streaming videos to be downloaded. Sadly, this is a feature missing from YouTube, so the only way you can watch YouTube streaming videos is if you have an Internet connection.

And Google Video allows you to buy professionally made video clips. This is a great feature for video producers to showcase their work.

Those are the areas where Google Video outshines YouTube for free video streaming. On the whole, though, YouTube beats Google Video hands down.

YouTube vs Google Video

YouTube is much more user-friendly than Google Video. The interface is cleaner and easier to use, and YouTube makes it easy to rate and comment on their free streaming videos.

Google Video is getting better in these areas since acquiring YouTube back in October 2006, but each service retains its particular niche. YouTube excels at community-based free video streaming, and Google Video is better suited for professional producers who wish to offer free streaming videos as enticers to their commercial products.
